On 31st August, all Malaysian celebrated Hari Merdeka or known as Independence Day. Actually, it is a national day of Malaysia commemorating the independence of of the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule. In a wider context, it is to celebrate the formation of Malaysia.
Two words that describe what I really feel about Merdeka are freedom and peaceful. For me, Merdeka is symbolized as a freedom because as a student, I never stop from facing many problems in my study. So, the achieve the freedom, first I have to sacrify much especially on spending my time to my study and attempt to get excellent results in each examination. I feel free when I can go through this challange successfully.
Other than that, Merdeka means to me as peaceful. I vvery thanked to God because I,m being a Malaysian. ALthough there were crimes occurs everywhere in our country, but it is smaller cases compared to another country. Moreover, our country also not threatened again by foreigners and not involved in serious war like in Iraq, Palestine or Afghanistan. So, I can say that all Malaysian now can live in a harmony life. As we know, Malaysia get the freedom and peaceful when Union Jack was lowered from the flagpole and the Malayan flag was raised.
Furthermore, from day to day, we can see that there are many triumphat that can be achieved by our country including in advancement science and technology by our scientist. We cannot achieve all of the without independence of our country since 51 years ago.
We should appreciate the effort for independence which was spearheaded by Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia. He led a delegation of ministers and political leaders of Malaya in negotiations with the British in London for Merdeka until we get the freedom from British colonial rule. So, no wonder if everyone remembered him as 'Father of Independence'.
